Carmex Skin Care ~ Review and Giveaway

CARMEX

It's been quite some time since I last blogged or hosted a review or giveaway. So when I returned home to find a 'Sorry We Missed You' note from UPS on my door I was baffled. Who was sending me a package and one that required a signature, in person, to boot!? I am in and out all day, carting kids to school and activities so scheduling a delivery with a 2 - 4 hour window isn't the easiest to do. But not knowing who it was from was eating away at me. I couldn't stand it. I called UPS and asked them if they could at least tell me who the sender was. I was told the only thing they had in their system was "Hasty Mail" out of Minneapolis  At first I thought they said "Tasty" and thought I was getting some kind of treat but after clarification I did what any normal person would do this day and age. I grabbed an iPad and Googled! Turns out "Hasty Mail" is a shipping service, which was of no help to me.Once again, I was forced to wait, er, be patient.

The following day I put a note on my front door that said "UPS, we are home. KNOCK HARD!" Heaven knows I didn't want to miss the delivery again! I tracked the package multiple times, despite the fact that the status never changed from "Out for Delivery". Then I heard a big truck stop outside my house. My daughter, who was also anxiously awaiting the delivery, went running to look out the window. "MOMMY, the delivery guy is here!!" she yelled. The delivery guy was here alright, the OIL delivery guy. Disappointed I went and had a seat and tracked the package, yes again, knowing full well the status had not changed.

Finally, there was a UPS truck sighting one street over. I told my daughter that the delivery man better hurry up and drop off his other packages before we had to leave to pick up her brother. What a way to teach patience to her, right? Then about 10 minutes later the small brown truck stopped next to my house and the man dressed head to toe in brown make the short trek up the walkway to my front door, where I was clearly waiting with baited breath. As I was signing for the package you know I was not paying attention to the little electronic machine, I was trying to look at the package to see who it was from! And there it was, the return label with the company logo.

CARMEX!!!

At last, the anticipation of finding out who the mystery package was from was over. Now to uncover the next mystery. What was in the package that I waited so anxiously for? There were two full size bottles, one of hydrating lotion and one of  healing cream, plus a bright yellow hoodie for the Carmex Blog Squad members.

When I received the products both my daughter and I were suffering from dry skin due to dry heat. My daughters being worse than mine. We both couldn't wait to see if *this* would be the cream to put an end to  the dry, cracked skin.

The first thing I did was open each bottle to give them the smell test. If they had heavy perfume smells that would be it for us. Thankfully we both were pleased with the light, fresh scent. It wouldn't be my first choice in scents but it wasn't offensive.

We decided to try the healing cream first. Mostly because my daughter is a gymnast and her hands really take a beating. Not to mention how dry they were. They felt like sandpaper - all exaggeration to the side. She doesn't have the typical soft hands of a 5 yr old. The Carmex healing cream felt so good as we rubbed it in to our hands, and elbows for me. Once absorbed we were not left with a greasy residue, just soft skin.We used the healing cream twice a day for several days and had amazing improvement. I started applying it to my feet at night, too, and was quite pleased with the results! I tried to convince my husband to use it but as usual he refused.
Next we gave the Carmex hydrating lotion a shot. We were equally happy with it. The difference, to me, was that the lotion wasn't as thick and, well, creamy as the cream. I could foresee us using the hydrating lotion on more of a regular basis and the healing cream when we really need a deeper moisturizing.

As I close, there is one thing that I noticed that I wanted to point out. After each use of the lotion and cream I couldn't believe the difference in the appearance of my skin, but especially my daughters. The best way I can describe it is like a plant that is dehydrated. Imagine it limp and slumped down but after one good drink of water it perks up and looks healthy again. That was the same results I saw with our skin after using the Carmex Healing Cream and Carmex Hydrating Lotion.

Now is your chance to WIN a full size bottle of Carmex Healing Cream and Carmex Hydrating Lotion to try for yourself!
